PROJECT
Jill chose to do her Bat Mitzvah project through an organization called ALIVE!, which stands for Alexandrians InVolved Ecumenically! ALIVE! is an organization made up of over 40 religious congregations, including Agudas Achim, which all work together to help those in need in Alexandria, Virginia. ALIVE! is the largest private safety net for the needy in the City of Alexandria, addressing short-term to long-term needs for those less fortunate in the community.
Jill wanted to do something hands-on for her project. So, she chose to work at some of the monthly food distribution events that ALIVE! holds for residents of Alexandria in need. For example, Jill went to an Episcopal church to help with the distribution of five-day supplies of food, including nonperishable goods, eggs, meat, and produce for the needy.
